Approach music like a child

Children are professional learners, experts at imagination, and masters of the creative process. They're open to trying new things and willing to express their emotions authentically—in language and art.

Adults, although well-intentioned, often interfere by providing instructions, making up rules, setting expectations, and capitalizing on every opportunity to organize their fun.

In music, you'll discover much better results if you approach your instrument like a child who plays when they think no one is watching. You know what I'm talking about—it’s magic.

It is not always easy to accomplish. Adults often question their progress and results in comparison to those around them. We can become self-critical and even fearful of making mistakes in front of others.

I took all of this into consideration when creating the Campfire Challenge — 10 Lessons that introduce you to Creativity at the piano.

You’ll find no better (and safe) place to spark your creativity than right here with us.

“Approach your instrument like a child who plays when they think no one is watching.”
